This 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible was refurbished during the 1990s and early 2000s under prior ownership, when it was modified with the installation of a 512ci stroker V8 that is linked to a push-button three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip rear end with 3.55:1 gearing. The car is finished in white with a white convertible top over red upholstery with white accents, and other equipment includes a cross-ram intake manifold, Edelbrock dual four-barrel carburetors, a Comp Cams solid roller camshaft, a 3″ dual exhaust system, front disc brakes, Cragar S/S wheels, a hood scoop, seatbelts, an AM radio, and a tachometer. The seller purchased the car in 2009. This modified Sport Fury is now offered with engine-build documentation and Connecticut registration in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in Ermine (WW1), the car was stripped and repainted white in the mid-1990s. Features include a replacement white convertible top as well as a hood scoop, chrome bumpers, bright trim, engine-turned side trim, a driver-side mirror, and quad headlamps.

Chrome-finished Cragar S/S 15″ wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires measuring 215/70 in front and 255/60 out back; a steel 14″ spare is found in the trunk compartment. Front disc brakes have been adapted.

The cabin features front bucket and rear bench seats upholstered in red vinyl and cloth upholstery with white vinyl accents. Appointments include a center console, red carpeting, front and rear lap belts, a push-button Transaudio AM radio, and carpeted red floor mats. The clock is inoperable.

The two-spoke steering wheel has a horn ring and sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer and secondary gauges. A Moroso tachometer is positioned to the left of the steering wheel, and aftermarket Equus auxiliary gauges are located below the radio. The five-digit odometer shows 750 miles, approximately 70 of which were added under current ownership; true mileage is unknown.

A 440ci V8 was bored .040″ over and stroked to displace 512ci and fitted with Max Wedge–style components by Precision Performance of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, prior to 2009. The following parts are said to be utilized:

  • Mopar cross-ram intake manifold
  • Edelbrock 800-cfm dual four-barrel carburetors
  • “426-II Super Stock” rocker covers
  • 4340 forged crankshaft, radiused and nitrated with a stroke of 4.250″
  • 4340 7.100″ H-beam forged connecting rods with 7/16″ ARP bolts
  • Ross Racing Pistons flat-top forged pistons
  • Comp Cams solid roller camshaft (0.020″ intake and 0.650″ exhaust lift, 296°/303° duration)
  • Comp Cams 1.5-ratio rollerized rocker arms
  • Indy Cylinder Head EZ cylinder heads with 2.19″ intake and 1.81″ exhaust valves
  • Full roller timing chain with thrust bearing
  • Mopar aluminum water pump and housing

  • Mechanical-tachometer-drive distributor
  • MSD 700 AL ignition

  • 3/8″ stainless-steel fuel lines
  • Replacement fuel tank
  • Mancini Racing–sourced exhaust headers
  • Mandrel-bent 3″ TTi dual exhaust system with cutouts

Dynamometer results viewable in the photo gallery below indicate that the engine produced a maximum of 656 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 662 lb-ft of torque at 4,300 rpm when it was tested in 2008. The coolant was changed in 2023, and the oil was changed most recently in 2024.

A push-button-shifted 727 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission has been updated with a manual reverse valve body and a high-stall converter. The limited-slip rear end houses 3.55:1 gears. The transmission fluid was changed in 2024, according to the seller.

The fender tag reveals the following production information:

  • SO 1128 – November 28 scheduled production date
  • Number 0176 – Production sequence number
  • BDY 345 – Plymouth Sport Fury convertible body style
  • TRM 455 – Red vinyl interior trim
  • PNT WW1 – Ermine monotone paint

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its Connecticut registration certificate, which identifies the car’s registered usage as “Antique”.
