This replica of a Porsche 356 Speedster was built in 2022 by Vintage Motorcars of Hawaiian Gardens, California, and was acquired by the seller on BaT in September 2023. Powered by a 1,915cc flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, the car is finished in black over matching vinyl upholstery. Additional equipment includes 15″ polished alloy wheels with chrome hubcaps as well as four-wheel disc brakes, a black soft top, dual carburetors, driving lights, heated seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, and a RetroSound vintage-styled stereo. This Speedster replica was previously listed on BaT in May 2022 and again in April 2024, and it is now offered at no reserve with a black top boot, side curtains, and a clean California title that lists the vehicle as a 1970 Volkswagen.

The fiberglass body is finished in black and has been fitted over a shortened Volkswagen Beetle chassis. Exterior details include a black soft top, a left-side mirror, and a reproduction Reutter badge on the right-front fender in addition to a single-grille decklid, gold-tone Porsche 1600 Super badging, driving lights, dual exhaust outlets, and body-color bumpers with chrome-finished trim and overriders. A top boot and side curtains will accompany the vehicle. Close-up photos of the paintwork and trim are presented in the gallery.

Polished 15” alloy wheels with chromed Porsche-crest hubcaps are mounted with 195/65 Blackhawk Street-H HH11 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs.

The heated low-back bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl that extends to the dash pad, rear parcel shelf, and door panels. Gray carpeting lines the floors, and additional appointments include a chrome-finished passenger-side grab handle as well as map pockets, lap belts, and a RetroSound stereo with Bluetooth connectivity.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames green-font VDO instrumentation consisting of a central 8k-rpm tachometer flanked by a 120-mph speedometer and a combination gauge displaying oil temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer shows 1k miles, approximately 670 of which were added under current ownership. Total chassis mileage is unknown.

The 1,915cc flat-four is equipped with dual Kadron carburetors, a CB Performance Magnaspark electronic ignition system, and a 72-row external oil cooler with an electric fan.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a “Freeway Flyer” four-speed manual transaxle with a 4.12:1 ring-and-pinion rear-axle gearset and a 0.82:1 fourth-gear ratio. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery.

The frame-tunnel stamping shown above is consistent with a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle, and the car is tilted in California as a 1970 Volkswagen.
