This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is said to have remained with its original owner through its first 30 years, and it was refurbished in the early 2000s. The car is refinished in red over black vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 427ci L72 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a Positraction differential, a black convertible soft top, 15″ steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, transistor ignition, and retractable headlights. The seller purchased the car in 2014, and it was subsequently recognized with NCRS Top Flight, Bloomington Gold, and Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Gold Concours and Triple Diamond honors. This C2 is now offered in Connecticut with the aforementioned awards, an Al Grenning CCAS engine pad certificate, and a clean New York title in the seller’s name.
The fiberglass body is refinished in Rally Red (974), and features include a black convertible soft top, a domed hood, flip-up headlights, chrome bumpers, fender vents, Soft Ray tinted glass, a driver-side mirror, a side-exit exhaust system, and a retractable antenna.
The 15″ steel wheels wear knock-off covers and are mounted with 7.75-15 Firestone-branded Goldline bias ply tires. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs.
The cabin is trimmed in black and refurbishment work included the replacement of the carpeting, seats, and door panels. Amenities include a heater, an analog clock, and lap belts. There is no radio.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles, approximately 50 of which were added under current ownership.
The 427ci L72 V8 was factory rated at 425 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque and is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and a transistor ignition system.
The engine stamping is shown above. The IP suffix corresponds with a 425-horsepower, 427ci L72 V8 for use with a manual transmission.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential.

The car received Triple Diamond certification from the Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals in November 2014 after receiving a Concours Gold certificate, NCRS Chapter Top Flight award, and Bloomington Gold honors earlier in the year. A 2023 CCAS engine pad certificate is also included in the sale.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its transferable New York registration.
