This 1964 Austin-Healey Sprite Mk III is said to have remained registered in Nevada from 2014 until it was acquired and relocated to California by the seller in 2022. The car was subsequently refurbished with work including re-trimming the seats in black vinyl with white piping, replacing the carpeting, overhauling the 1,098cc inline-four and the suspension, installing 1.25″ SU carburetors, and replacing the clutch, brake components, and fuel tank, sending unit float, and lines. Finished in dark metallic green, the car is equipped with a ribcase four-speed manual transmission, 13″ steel wheels, front suspension lowering spacers, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, a JBL Bluetooth speaker, and retrofitted 3.9:1 differential gears. This Sprite Mk III is now offered at no reserve with a hand-written refurbishment summary, workshop manuals, parts invoices, an older removable soft top, a tonneau cover, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The exterior has been repainted in dark metallic green, and details consist of a bright grille, a tonneau cover, fender-mounted side mirrors, quarter vent windows, a chrome front bumper, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller notes that a winged Austin-Healey badge was added to the bonnet and the window seals were replaced under current ownership. An area of peeling paint is noted near one of the left tonneau fasteners, the soft top is worn and the windows are discolored, and a close-up photo of scratches is viewable in the gallery below.

The front suspension has been lowered with aluminum spacers and features an anti-roll bar, and suspension refurbishments under current ownership included replacing the lower control arm bushings, upper trunnion bushings, fulcrum pins, rear spring pads, shackle bushings, shock absorbers, tie rod ends, steering rack boots. The brake system was also overhauled in 2023 with a replacement master cylinder, brake rotors, pads, hoses, rear shoes, and rear wheel cylinders. The 13″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 145-series Monarch radial tires.

The bucket seats were reupholstered in black vinyl with white upholstery under current ownership, and they are complemented by matching door panels and replacement carpets. A magnetically mounted JBL Bluetooth speaker has been added under the dashboard, and additional appointments include a dash-mounted horn button, a heater, lap belts, leather door check straps, a fabricated dead pedal, and a floor-mounted fire extinguisher.

The leather-wrapped Moto-Lita steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 100-mph speedometer and a tachometer. Additional gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure are mounted in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 89k miles, approximately 1,700 miles of which were added under current ownership. The combination gauge for coolant temperature and oil pressure was replaced along with the turn signal stalk, according to the seller.

The 1,098cc inline-four was overhauled under current ownership, and the seller states that the crankshaft was polished, hardened valve seats were fitted, and replacement timing components, piston rings, main bearings, rod bearings, tappets, intake and exhaust valves, valve springs, and engine mounts were installed at that time. A replacement fuel tank, brass sending unit float, soft fuel lines, and 1.25″ SU carburetors were sourced during the refurbishment. An oil change was performed in August 2024.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ribcase four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that a replacement clutch, pilot bushing, roller release bearing, and clutch hydraulic cylinders were installed under current ownership, and the differential is said to have been revised with a 3.9:1 ring and pinion.

Photos from the refurbishment process are presented in the gallery.

A worn black soft top is included in the sale along with a collapsible frame, a tonneau bar and cover, repair manuals, and refurbishment notes and invoices.
