This 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible is powered by an air-cooled 1.6L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Mars Red over black leatherette upholstery. Equipment includes 15″ chrome steel wheels, drum brakes, Bosch fuel injection, a black convertible soft top, an analog clock, a Kenwood CD stereo, dual side-view mirrors, rear fender stone guards, and chrome impact bumpers with rub strips. The car reportedly spent time in Arizona prior to being acquired by the current owner in 2021. This 1303 Super Beetle is now offered with manufacturer’s literature and a clean Utah title in the name of the current owner’s trust.

The car is finished in Mars Red (L31B) and features a black convertible soft top, dual side-view mirrors, rear fender stone guards, polished beltline trim, quarter vent windows, a Karmann body tag affixed to the right front quarter panel, and chrome impact bumpers with rub strips. There is a tear in the soft top and portions of the front end have been repainted. Images detailing the condition of the exterior are presented in the gallery below.

Chrome 15″ steel wheels wear matching VW-stamped hubcaps and are mounted with 185/65 Michelin tires. The car was factory equipped with a MacPherson strut and coil spring front suspension in place of the standard Beetle’s torsion bar setup. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners.

The front bucket seats and the rear bench are upholstered in black leatherette and are joined by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and rubber floor mats. Salt-and-pepper carpeting lines the footwells, and additional interior elements include a lockable glove compartment, an analog clock, a two-speed fresh air blower fan, imitation wood dashboard trim, three-point front seat belts, a Kenwood CD stereo, and cupholders mounted to the ashtray receptacle. The carpet and seat upholstery are worn and the dashboard is cracked.

The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 100-mph VDO speedometer with an inset fuel-level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer is believed to have rolled over and currently shows 5k miles. True mileage is unknown.

The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four was factory equipped with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 48 horsepower and 73 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
