This 1952 MG TD was acquired by the current owner in 1970 and was refurbished and fitted with a replacement body tub by Quality Coaches of Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1989, following a decade of disuse. The car is powered by a 1,250cc XPAG inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in red over beige leather. Equipment includes 15″ silver-finished steel wheels, a louvered hood with a leather strap, and a folding windshield. This TD is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, side curtains, a soft top, a top boot, a car cover, a tool kit, and a clean Minnesota title in the owner’s name.
The car was fitted with a replacement tub and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a louvered hood, a folding windshield, a leather hood strap, running boards, wind wings, and chrome bumpers with overriders. A tan canvas soft top, a refurbished top frame, and side curtains accompany the car.
The 15″ silver-finished steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with 165/80 Kumho Power Star 758 tires that show date codes from 2008. A spare wheel and tire are affixed to the rear. Braking is handled by drums at each corner.
The cabin houses a split bench seat that was re-trimmed in beige leather during the refurbishment, and amenities include map pockets, a wood dash, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror.
The banjo-style steering wheel is mounted on an adjustable column and frames Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 100-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset clock as well as auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, amperage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 10k of which are said to have been added since completion of the refurbishment.
The 1,250cc XPAG inline-four is equipped with dual SU carburetors and was factory rated at 57 horsepower. Electronic ignition has been added. An oil change was performed in 2024 and compression test results are viewable in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
Additional photos from the refurbishment can be seen in the gallery.
The data plate describes the car as a left-hand-drive TD model produced for the North American market.
