This 1980 Triumph TR8 convertible was modified under previous ownership with a Huffaker Racing-style fiberglass widebody kit, a four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, a TWS camshaft kit, a high-torque starter, performance heads, a Ford 8.8″ rear axle, a limited-slip differential, and Wilwood front disc brakes. The car was sold on BaT in January 2022 before it was acquired by the current owner on BaT in January 2023, and subsequent work consisted of installing metallic blue vinyl wrap over the blue paintwork. Powered by a 3.5-liter V8 paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the car features red leather upholstery, a blue soft top, 15″ Compomotive wheels, a roll bar, Hella fog lights, and a Sony CD stereo. This TR8 is now offered with a window sticker, a history summary from the previous owner, three keys, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.

The body was refinished in dark blue under prior ownership and features a fiberglass Group IV Huffaker racing-style body kit with flared fenders, as well as a fabricated front air dam and an integrated rear spoiler. A metallic blue vinyl wrap was installed following the seller’s acquisition, and additional details include a replacement blue soft top, pop-up headlights, Hella front fog lights, US-specification impact bumpers, and a retractable antenna. A blue top boot will accompany the car. Imperfections in the finish can be viewed in the gallery below.

Silver-finished 15×7″ front and 15×8″ rear Compomotive wheels are wrapped in Toyo Proxes tires that are said to have been mounted in 2021. Koni shock absorbers and aftermarket rear suspension components were installed under previous ownership. Wilwood front disc brake components and Ford Mustang-sourced rear brakes act on cross-drilled and slotted rotors at each corner.

The cabin was refurbished circa 1990 and features bucket seats upholstered in red leather, joined by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include intermittent wipers, a locking glove compartment, a roll bar, and a Sony CD stereo. The air conditioning is inoperative and wear is noted on the left seat bottom.

A three-spoke steering wheel frames a replacement 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 14k miles, approximately 1,200 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The modified 3.5-liter V8 features a 9:1 compression ratio, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and tube-style exhaust headers with an HPC high-performance coating. Work between 2022 and 2023 included the installation of a TWS four-barrel carburetor kit, a high-torque starter, 10-bolt heads, and a TWS camshaft kit, as well as a replacement water pump and spark plugs.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The shifter bushings were replaced in 2021, while a lightened flywheel, a Centerforce clutch assembly, an aftermarket driveshaft, and a modified Ford 8.8″ rear axle with a limited-slip differential was installed under previous ownership by The Wedge Shop of Taunton, Massachusetts.
