This 1966 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 is one of 5,540 convertibles produced for the model year, and it was purchased by the seller out of Michigan in 2007. The car is finished in Black Cherry over white vinyl upholstery, and power comes from a replacement 425ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes an electric cooling fan, power-assisted steering, and a power-operated black soft top. This Dynamic 88 convertible is now offered with spare parts, service manuals, and transferable New York registration in the seller’s name.

Delivered from the factory in Lucerne Mist (D), the car was repainted Black Cherry under previous ownership. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, quad headlights, dual side-view mirrors, and side moldings. The power-operated black soft top is a replacement component that stows under a white boot, and it can be seen raised in the photo gallery below. The windshield washers do not work, trim is missing from the right fender, the seller notes rust on the body, and there is filler in the right quarter panel.

Steel 14″ wheels wear wire-style covers with Oldsmobile-branded center caps, and they are mounted with Mastercraft whitewall radial tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by an unassisted single-circuit hydraulic system with drums at all four wheels. The front brakes reportedly were replaced in 2023.

The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in white vinyl along with color-coordinated door panels and a contrasting black dashboard and carpets. Equipment includes a locking glovebox, an under-dash stereo, aftermarket speakers, and front and rear lap belts. The seller notes rattles while driving and that the dash-mounted cassette player and controls for the heater/defroster do not work.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and warning lights. The seller describes the dash lights as dim. The five-digit odometer shows 94k miles, approximately 7k of which were added under the seller’s ownership.

The replacement 425ci V8 was reportedly rebuilt utilizing roller rockers and lifters Mondello Performance Products of Paso Robles, California. An electric cooling fan is also fitted.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. The differential has been rebuilt. The seller notes a fluid leak if the car is not driven for multiple months, and corrosion in the wheel wells and undersides are shown in the gallery.

Decoding the Fisher cowl tag reveals the following information:

  • 03D – Fourth week of March assembly date
  • 66-35667 – Dynamic 88 two-door convertible
  • LAN 891 – Lansing, Michigan, assembly plant; sequence number
  • 323-A – Blue vinyl upholstery on bench seats
  • D-1 – Lucerne Mist paint with white convertible top
  • W – Tinted windshield
  • 2AR – Extra front-seat foam padding; rear shelf speaker

Spare parts including cylinder heads, valve covers, trim, a speedometer, a radio, dash bezels, and wheel covers will accompany the vehicle, as pictured in the gallery.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its New York registration.
