This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was acquired by the seller in 2023, and subsequent work included rebuilding the replacement 327ci V8 and four-speed manual transmission, replacing the clutch, carpeting, gauges, and door panels, and installing four-wheel disc brakes and a side-exit exhaust system. The car is refinished in red over black vinyl upholstery, and additional equipment includes a removable hardtop, a black convertible soft top, 15″ chrome wheels, a Positraction differential, and an aftermarket AM/FM radio. This C2 convertible is now offered with a clean Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.
The fiberglass body was finished from the factory in Ermine White (936) and was repainted in Roman Red in 2020. There is a matching removable hardtop and a replacement black convertible soft top. The front end has been modified by removing the front bumper and installing fixed headlights, and the seller has also replaced the hood release cable and adjusted the hood latch pins. Side-exit exhaust pipes and a stinger-style hood were also added. Scrapes are noted on the hood and rear deck.
Chrome-finished 15″ wheels feature three-eared spinners and are mounted with Coker tires measuring 205/75/15. The suspension and four-wheel disc brakes were sourced from a 1966 Corvette under current ownership, and work also involved installing a replacement dual master cylinder, brake lines, and parking brake cables.
Two bucket seats said to have been sourced from another 1963 Corvette are upholstered in black vinyl and joined by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. The carpeting was replaced under current ownership, and heat and sound insulation was installed underneath. The door panels, shifter handle, shifter boot, switches, and armrest were also replaced. Amenities include a heater, an aftermarket AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and lap belts. There is a tear in the passenger seat.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a replacement suite of instrumentation said to have been sourced from a 1964 Corvette. It consists of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,300-rpm redline as well as gauges for amperage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 327ci V8 was rebuilt in 2024, and the seller states that the block was bored .030″ over and the pistons, camshaft, valves, rocker arms, bearings, and oil pump were replaced. The engine is topped with a rebuilt Holley 750-cfm carburetor, and additional replacement components include a fuel pump, distributor, spark plugs, plug wires, water pump, heater core, pulleys, belts and hoses, starter, alternator, voltage regulator, wiring harness, and battery.
The engine stamping is shown above. The HC suffix is consistent with a mid-late 1960s 327ci Chevrolet V8.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential. The transmission was rebuilt in preparation for the sale, though a leak is noted from the front seal. The clutch was also replaced.
