This 1966 Sunbeam Tiger Mk 1A was purchased new by the seller’s father at Corona Imports Inc. in the Midwest. The car attended car shows in Indiana and Kentucky before it was put into storage after the seller inherited it in 2014, and it has not been started since. Now showing 23k miles, the car is finished in British Racing Green over black vinyl and is powered by a 260ci V8 linked with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 13″ steel wheels with slotted wheel covers, a black soft top, front disc brakes, a heater, and chrome bumpers and trim. This Tiger is now offered with the original purchase order, an owner’s manual, a factory service manual, a tonneau cover, car show awards, a spare dash pad, hubcaps, and a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in British Racing Green (86) and features include chrome bumpers, a black soft top, dual side mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome trim. Touched-up paint chips are shown up close in the image gallery below.
The 13″ steel wheels with slotted wheel covers are mounted with 185/70 Firestone FR380 tires that show 2004 date codes. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The interior features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl accompanied by matching door panels and rear cockpit trim. Appointments include a passenger-side glove compartment, a heater, seat belts, and an ashtray. The carpets are said to have been replaced circa 1980, and a roll bar has been added. There is a crack in the dashpad, a replacement for which is included in the sale. The passenger door does not latch shut, and the dashboard wood veneer is cracked.
The banjo-style steering wheel wears an aftermarket leather cover and sits ahead of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles.
The 260ci Ford V8 was factory rated at 164 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The car has not been started in approximately ten years after experiencing vapor lock. Subsequent diagnosis revealed exhaust gases in the coolant, with possible causes including a blown head gasket or cracked cylinder head.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The original owner’s manual and a factory service manual are included in the sale, as is the original purchase order dated March 24, 1967. A collection of car show awards from the southern Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky, areas is also included in the sale.
The Indiana title lists the car as a “Chrysler” in the make section and lists 1967 as the model year.
