This 1982 Excalibur Phaeton Series IV was purchased new by the owner’s father from Allen Motorcar Corporation in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, on August 10, 1982, and was acquired by the owner in 2024. The car is powered by a 5.0-liter GM V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential, and it is finished in Tobacco Brown with a Buckskin removable hardtop over Caramel leather upholstery. Additional features include 15″ wire-spoke wheels, side-mounted spare tires, dual spotlights, quad trumpet-style horns, a pivoting driving lamp, interior wood trim, air conditioning, power windows, power-adjustable front seats, and disc brakes. This Phaeton Series IV shows 13k miles and is now offered on dealer consignment with a window sticker, an owner’s manual, and a New York title.

The Brooks Stevens-designed Excalibur was produced in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with styling cues inspired by the Mercedes-Benz SSK roadster of 1928 to 1932. The fiberglass body panels are mounted on a square-tube ladder frame with X-member bracing, and on this example they are finished in Tobacco Brown with tan and orange pinstriping. The removable hardtop is finished in Buckskin, and additional equipment includes quad trumpet-style horns, A-pillar spotlights, and a pivoting center driving lamp along with a center-hinged hood with louvered panels, faux exposed exhaust headers, rear-fender stone guards, and woodgrain running board treads. The soft top power retraction mechanism does not work, and close-up photos of blemishes in the paint can be seen in the gallery.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are mounted with 235/75 American Classic tires. Suspension consists of independent wishbones with an anti-roll bar and adjustable torsion bars up front as well as a multi-link solid axle with adjustable torsion bars out back. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering and four-wheel disc brakes. The left-front brake caliper and the master cylinder were replaced in preparation for the sale.

The four-place cabin houses individual front seats and a rear bench trimmed in Camel leather upholstery complemented by a color-coordinated dash, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include woodgrain trim, power windows, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, and a Car Tunes musical horn system.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel wears an Excalibur center cap and sits ahead of VDO instrumentation consisting of an 85-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and inches of vacuum. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles.

The 5.0-liter GM-sourced V8 was factory rated at 155 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque and sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip rear differential. The fluids were changed in preparation for the sale.

Additional underside photos can be viewed in the gallery below.

The window sticker lists initial delivery to Allen Motorcar Corporation in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, along with factory colors and a total of $52,000. An owner’s manual and a bill of sale from 1982 will also accompany the car.

The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage and has a single entry dated December 12, 1993.

The decal affixed to the left door displays serial number 1XAPF4311CM827830, while the car is titled in New York under VIN APF4311CM827830, which omits the 1x prefix.
