This 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible was acquired by the seller as an unfinished project in 2023 and subsequently finished. Refurbishment work was completed in June 2024 and included repainting the body in Silver Metallic, reupholstering the interior in Camel leather, and fitting a black convertible soft top, a Bluetooth-capable Pioneer touchscreen head unit, 15″ Fuchs-syle wheels, Wilwood disc brakes, an adjustable front axle beam, dropped spindles, and narrowed rear trailing arms. Power comes from an air-cooled 1.6L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and fitted with dual EMPI carburetors, a Bosch 009 distributor, a degree pulley, and a polished alternator. This Karmann Ghia convertible is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car received replacement floor pans, a repaint in Silver Metallic (L96D), and a replacement black convertible soft top as part of the refurbishment. Exterior details include a Karmann badge on the right front fender, dual side-view mirrors, European-specification taillight lenses, and chrome Euro bumpers with overriders.

Fuchs-style 15″ EMPI wheels are mounted with 135-series Firestone F-560 tires up front and 195/65 GT Radial rubber out back. An adjustable front axle beam and dropped spindles are fitted up front, while narrowed rear trailing arms have been fitted out back and are reindexed for a lower ride height. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood calipers over drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners.

The front bucket seats have been retrimmed in Camel leather upholstery that extends to the dashboard pad, door panels, kick panels, and shift boot. Oatmeal square weave carpeting lines the footwells, and additional interior elements include a Bluetooth-capable Pioneer touchscreen head unit, lap belts, and a wire basket with integrated cupholders. The rear defrost does not work.

A wood-rimmed EMPI three-spoke steering wheel frames a 90-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 34k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership.

The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four is equipped with dual Kadron-style EMPI carburetors, a Bosch 009 distributor, a degree pulley, and a polished alternator.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
