This 1970 Pontiac GTO convertible was delivered new to Palomar Motors of Escondido, California, and was refurbished under prior ownership with work including repainting the body in Bermuda Blue as well as re-trimming the interior in white vinyl with blue accents. Power is provided by a 400ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and equipment includes a power-operated white soft top, a rear wing, an Endura front bumper, a hood-mounted tachometer, a scoped hood, and 15″ Rally II wheels as well as power steering and power-assisted front disc brakes. This GTO convertible was acquired by the selling dealer in 2021 and is now offered with Pontiac Historic Services documentation and a clean Virginia title.
The car left the factory finished in Bermuda Blue and was refinished under prior ownership. Exterior equipment includes a power-operated white convertible soft top, a color-keyed Endura front bumper, quad headlights, a scooped hood, a hood-mounted tachometer, a rear wing, and quad exhaust outlets.
The 15″ Rally II wheels are mounted with 245/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. A full-size spare is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
Originally trimmed in blue vinyl, the cabin now houses bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in white with blue accents on the dash and center console. Amenities include a padded dashboard, an AM/FM stereo, and faux woodgrain trim on the instrument panel and center console. The belt for the air conditioning compressor is removed, and the air conditioning does not work.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer flanked by an analog clock and a combination gauge indicating engine temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 29k miles, approximately 10 of which were added under current ownership.
The 400ci V8 is equipped with a single four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 350 horsepower.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. A replacement dual exhaust system is installed.
