This Porsche 356 Speedster replica was reportedly assembled by Vintage Speedsters of Goodyear, Arizona, and it was acquired by the current owner’s father in 2006. The car is powered by a 1.6L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and is finished in silver metallic over black vinyl upholstery. Equipment includes a black soft top, a single-grille decklid, and chrome-finished 15″ wheels with matching hubcaps as well as front disc brakes, a banjo-style steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, lap belts, dual carburetors, and auxiliary oil coolers. This Speedster replica is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner’s estate with a top boot, a tonneau cover, removable side curtains, and a clean Arizona title listing the vehicle as a 1972 Volkswagen.

The fiberglass body is finished in silver metallic and features a black convertible soft top with a matching boot, tonneau cover, and removable side curtains. Additional details include a driver’s side mirror, chrome-accented body-color bumpers, teardrop taillights, a single grille decklid, and gold-finished Porsche and 1600 Super badging. Damage behind the passenger door was repaired in July 2024.

Chrome-finished 15″ wheels with matching hubcaps are mounted with 165-series Kelly Metric Radial tires. KYB shock absorbers have been retrofitted, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

The fixed-back bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated upper dashboard and door panels with map pockets. Speedster-branded floor mats line the footwells, and appointments include a height-adjustable rearview mirror, lap belts, a gold-finished Porsche dashboard badge, and a passenger grab handle.

The banjo-style steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a central 6k-rpm tachometer, a 130-mph speedometer, and gauges for oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles.

The air-cooled 1.6-liter flat-four breathes through dual carburetors with chrome air cleaner housings. Additional oil coolers are mounted to the bottom of the floor pan. The spark plugs were cleaned and the oil was changed in June 2024.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.

The frame tunnel stamping shown above is consistent with a 1972 Volkswagen Beetle.
