This 1960 Morgan Plus 4 was acquired by the current owner in 1976 and underwent refurbishment work completed over a five-year period in the 1990s. The car was reportedly placed into storage following completion of the work through 2018, at which time the dual SU carburetors were overhauled, the brake master cylinder was replaced, and the fuel tank was reconditioned. Finished in green and black over tan upholstery, this left-hand-drive convertible is powered by a 1,991cc Triumph inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Features include 15″ wire-spoke wheels, front disc brakes, a leather hood strap, a rear luggage rack, and a banjo-style steering wheel. Service completed in anticipation of the sale is said to have involved performing a valve adjustment, tuning the carburetors, and replacing a number of ignition components. This Plus 4 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a tonneau cover, side curtains, service records, and a California title in the owner’s name.

The Plus 4 featured a steel body fixed to a steel chassis via ash wood framework. This example was stripped and underwent bodywork and rust repair prior to being refinished in green with black fenders as part of the aforementioned 1990s refurbishment. Exterior details include a leather hood strap, dual fender-mounted mirrors, a rear luggage rack, and chrome bumpers with overriders. A convertible top frame is installed, and a soft top, side curtains, and tonneau cover will accompany the car.

Chrome-finished 15″ wheels are secured via two-eared knock-off hubs and mounted with 165-width Michelin XAS tires, while a matching spare wheel and tire are affixed at the rear of the car. Work completed in 2018 involved rebuilding the front calipers and replacing the brake master cylinder as well as the rear wheel cylinders.

The cockpit has been re-trimmed in tan leather upholstery. Latch-and-link lap belts are provided for both passengers.

The banjo-style steering wheel sits ahead of a wood dashboard and Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 110-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and a combination gauge for water temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles, approximately 2k miles of which were added under current ownership.

The 1,991cc inline-four was manufactured by Triumph and rebuilt as part of the 1990s refurbishment. Service performed in 2018 involved overhauling the dual SU carburetors, reconditioning the fuel tank, and replacing the fuel pump, while work carried out in preparation for the sale is said to have included adjusting the valves, setting the timing, refreshing the coolant, and replacing the ignition rotor, condenser, and points. Compression test results are shown in the gallery below.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with a stainless-steel exhaust system.

The included Morgan Motor Company Chassis Record certificate lists the factory colors and identification numbers, and it notes a dispatch date in May 1959.

The engine number is pictured above. The California title lists the VIN as TS44710, and body stampings of the sequence “44710” are pictured in the gallery below.
