This Porsche 356 Speedster replica was reportedly built by Vintage Speedsters of Hawaiian Gardens, California, using a fiberglass body mounted over a modified Volkswagen Beetle chassis. It is powered by an air-cooled flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and is finished in blue over brown leather upholstery. Equipment includes 15″ chrome steel wheels, dual EMPI carburetors, an electric fuel pump, a Euro two-tip exhaust, lap belts, Coco mats, a 12-volt charging outlet, and a Kenwood CD stereo. Acquired by the seller in April 2022, this Speedster replica is now offered with a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name describing it as a 1974 Volkswagen Beatle.
The fiberglass body is finished in blue and fitted over a modified Volkswagen Beetle chassis. Exterior details include a tan convertible soft top, boot cover, and side curtains as well as dual side-view mirrors, teardrop taillights, a single grille decklid, gold-finished Porsche and 1600 Super badging, and body-color bumpers with rub strips.
Chrome 15″ steel wheels wear matching hubcaps and are mounted with wide whitewall tires. Stopping power is provided by drums at all four corners.
The low-back bucket seats are trimmed in brown leather that extends to the dashboard, rear parcel shelf, and door panels, while German square-weave carpets line the cabin and the front trunk. Interior elements include an adjustable height rearview mirror, lap belts, Coco mats, a 12-volt charging outlet, and a Kenwood CD stereo linked to speakers in the door panels.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a central tachometer flanked by a 130-mph speedometer and a combination gauge for engine temperature and fuel level. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 22k miles, approximately 14k of which have been added under current ownership.
The air-cooled flat-four is said to displace 2,332cc and is fitted with dual EMPI carburetors and an electric fuel pump.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. A Euro two-tip exhaust with heater boxes has been installed.
The chassis number 1142578996 shown above is consistent with a 1974 Volkswagen Beetle and matches the VIN on the current Arizona title, which describes the car as a 1974 Volkswagen Beatle.
