This 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL was refurbished under prior ownership and refinished in silver over red leather. Power is provided by a 1.9-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a black soft top, a red top boot, 13″ steel wheels with body-color hubcaps, a Becker Mexico AM/FM radio, and dual Weber carburetors. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2023, and recent service by Beverly Hills Motors of Houston, Texas, has included a rear suspension overhaul, rebuilds of the rear axle and carburetors, and replacement of the rear engine mounts, fuel sending unit, and fuel lines. This 190SL is now offered with a copy of the data card, an owner’s manual, service records, a jack and tool kit, and a clean Arizona title that identifies the car as a 1964 model.
The car left the factory finished in white and was refinished in Silver Grey Metallic under prior ownership. The black convertible soft top is accompanied by a red top boot, and additional equipment includes a driver-side mirror and a bright windshield surround, grille, and bumpers.
Steel 13″ wheels wear chrome trim rings, hubcaps with body-color accents, and 185/80 BFGoodrich Silvertown tires that were mounted in February 2024. The car is equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension, rear swing axles with coil springs, and power-assisted drum brakes. A front-to-rear brake line was replaced in 2023 along with the front and rear trailing arm bushings, the rear coil spring seats, and the rear shocks.
The cabin features low-back bucket seats upholstered in red leather as well as matching door panels and dashboard trim. Amenities include a Becker Mexico AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership.
The 1.9-liter M121 inline-four was factory rated at 104 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque. The Weber carburetors were rebuilt and the fuel sending unit, fuel lines, and rear engine mounts were replaced in August 2023.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission. The exhaust system was repaired, the rear axle was rebuilt, and the axle and suspension components were repainted in August 2023.
A copy of the data card indicates a build date in September 1961 and lists the original colors, identification numbers, and option codes.
The chassis, body, and drivetrain identification numbers are pictured in the gallery and correspond with the numbers noted on the data card.
A tool kit, jack, spare wheel, red top boot, owners manual, and service records are included in the sale.
The Arizona title identifies the car as a 1964 model.
