This 1965 Ford Mustang is a C-code 289 convertible four-speed that was refurbished in 1999, reportedly by its second owner. It was purchased in 2023 by its current owner, who states subsequent work included replacing the bumpers, soft top, seat covers, and scuff plates, installing 14″ styled-steel wheels, retrimming the trunk, servicing the brakes, and resealing the engine. This Mustang is now offered by the seller on behalf of their family with a clean Kentucky title.
The car is finished in Rangoon Red, and the seller states that seals were replaced when it was repainted and undercoated approximately 25 years ago. The chrome bumpers and power-operated white soft top were replaced more recently. There is a nickle-sized ding to the right of the gas cap.
The seller states the 14″ styled-steel wheels were recently installed, and they wear 215/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The brakes were also reportedly serviced.
The carpeting, seat covers, and scuff plates were also replaced recently according to the seller, as were the trunk liner and spare tire cover.
Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer flanked by fuel-level and water-temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.
The 289ci V8 was factory rated at 200 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller states that the timing chain cover and water pump gaskets were replaced along with the throw-out bearing, clutch components, and universal joints. A dress-up kit was also installed.
Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.
Records from current ownership are included in the sale.
