This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL was sold new in California and was acquired in 1992 by the seller, who is reportedly the second owner and has added 95k of the 130k miles shown. Finished in Signal Red over black leather, the car is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, a replacement black soft top, a removable hardtop, chrome-plated 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels, fog lights, a Becker AM/FM/cassette stereo, electric windows, central locking, cruise control, and automatic climate control. This R107 is now offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a wind deflector, a car cover, a hardtop stand, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Signal Red and features a color-matched removable hardtop and a black convertible soft top that has been replaced. Additional exterior equipment includes quad headlights, fog lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim. A ding in the rear bumper and paint blemishes are shown up close in the image gallery below.

Chrome-plated 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels are mounted with Continental ContiProContact tires measuring 205/65. The car was factory equipped with power steering, a fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.

The two bucket seats are upholstered in black leather, and interior equipment includes a Becker AM/FM/cassette stereo, an alarm system, central locking, electric windows, cruise control, and automatic climate control. The air conditioning compressor was replaced in 2014, and the passenger vanity mirror was replaced in 2024. The power windows have been modified so they can be fully raised and lowered with the key from the driver’s door.

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 130k miles, approximately 95k of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.5-liter V8 was factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque. A head gasket was replaced in 2015, while the hood insulation pad, water pump, and heater control valve were replaced in 2018 along with a rebuild of the starter. An oil change was performed and the valve cover gaskets were replaced in 2022.

Power is routed to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.

Decoding the data plate reveals the following information:

  • 877 – Signal Red
  • 271 – Leather Black/Anthracite interior
  • 442 – Airbag in steering wheel
  • 494 – US California version
  • 506 – Outside rearview mirror, left & right. Electronically adjustable.
  • 519 – Becker radio Mexico Grand Prix, electronic
  • 531 – Automatic antenna

Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with service records, a tool roll, a wind deflector, a hardtop stand, a first-aid kit, a car cover, a dashboard sunshade, and Mercedes-Benz-branded floor mats.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists registration history in California from the first entry in 1992.
