This 1955 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible is one of 3,950 convertible examples produced for the model year and is powered by a 331ci V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in white over black and cream leather upholstery and is equipped with a black soft top and body-color parade boot. Additional features include dual four-barrel carburetors, an electronic fuel pump, 15″ Sabre-style wheels, front disc brakes, and an Autronic Eye headlight dimmer. Acquired by the seller circa 2019, this Eldorado is now offered in California with a copy of the original sales invoice and a clean Utah title in the seller’s name.

The seller notes that the car was refinished in its current shade of white and that the black convertible soft top, the pump, and hoses were replaced under prior ownership. Exterior details include an egg crate grille, a curved windshield, shark-style tailfins, chrome bumpers, and a body-color parade boot.

Sabre-style 15″ wheels are wrapped in Coker whitewall tires. Front disc brakes were added and the rear wheel cylinders were rebuilt in 2022.

The two rows of bench seats are upholstered in black and cream leather. An Autronic Eye headlight dimmer is fitted, and the Wonderbar push-button radio does not work.

The two-tone steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and fronts a 110-mph speedometer and auxiliary readouts. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 331ci V8 is equipped with two four-barrel carburetors, a 12-volt alternator, and an electronic fuel pump that was installed in 2022. An invoice totaling $18k notes the exhaust system was also replaced at that time.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission.

Decoding the trim tag reveals the following information:

  • Style 55-6267SX – 1955 Eldorado Convertible
  • Body FW7 – Fleetwood assembly plant body number
  • Trim 90 – Black & white leather
  • Paint 90 – Alpine White
  • Top 2 – Black Orlon top
  • Acc. EHY – E-Z Eye Glass, heater, vertical seat adjuster

A copy of the original sales invoice shows that the car was sold on December 15, 1954, with a total price of $6,285.96. A hand-written letter depicted in the gallery notes that actor and war hero Audie Murphy rode in the car during a Hollywood Christmas parade.
