This 1965 Triumph TR4 remained in the care of its original owner until it was purchased by the seller as a non-running project in June 2022. The car had spent the prior 31 years in storage, and subsequent recommissioning work included rebuilding the carburetors, fitting a stainless-steel exhaust system, converting the electrical system to negative ground, and overhauling the fuel system, ignition system, and brakes. The car is finished in Signal Red over black leather and is powered by a 2.1-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top, a tonneau cover, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, knock-off hubs, front disc brakes, an AM radio, a cabin heater, a rear parcel shelf, and bucket seats. This TR4 is now offered with the owner’s manual, handwritten maintenance logs, original purchase documents, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The Giovanni Michelotti-designed body is finished in Signal Red (32) and features a black convertible soft top, a tonneau cover, a driver-side mirror, a flip-up fuel-filler cap, and bright bumpers with overriders. Auxiliary lighting has been added behind the grille. The seller notes that touch-up paint was applied prior to polishing work, and the left door shows color variation in comparison to the rest of the body.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels were fitted with replacement tubes and Firestone F-560 tires during the refurbishment. The brake system was overhauled, including replacing front disc and rear drum components as well as the master cylinder. The rear inner-axle seals were changed and the rear bearings were regreased under current ownership.

The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in black leather with white piping, and interior appointments include an AM radio, a locking glovebox, a cabin heater, storage pockets, and a rear parcel shelf.

The banjo-style steering wheel frames Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, while gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are located at center dash alongside a Lucas ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 49k miles.

The 2.1-liter inline-four was factory rated at 105 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. Fuel-system work during the refurbishment included replacing the fuel tank and rebuilding the fuel pump, and the carburetors were rebuilt. The fan belt and coolant hoses were replaced, and the car was converted to a top-post battery and negative ground. The spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap, and ignition coil were replaced along with the contact breakers. A stainless-steel exhaust system has been installed.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, and the master cylinder and slave cylinder were replaced during the refurbishment.

The commission number shown above corresponds with a Triumph TR4 produced approximately in late-1964. The car is titled as a 1965 model.

A typewritten invoice dated February 16, 1965, lists the car as a 1965 model and shows factory specifications as well as a total price of $3,259. The sale also includes literature as shown in the gallery below.
