This 1968 Ford Mustang is a blue-over-blue convertible that underwent a two-year refurbishment in 2010 and was first sold on BaT in January 2024. The 351ci Windsor V8 was bored and stroked to displace 408ci, and it is linked to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and an 8″ limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes a replacement power-operated blue soft top with a glass rear window, chrome 17″ Foose wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, and a Top Flight Automotive Grab-A-Trak suspension kit in addition to a Billet Specialties steering wheel, white Velocity Series gauges from Classic Instruments, a Mustang-branded stereo, Classic Auto Air climate control, and custom leather upholstery on the front bucket seats, rear bench, and trunk walls. A valve adjustment and oil change were completed in preparation for the sale, and the starter, battery, distributor cap, spark plugs, and plug wires were replaced. This Mustang convertible is now offered by the selling dealer in Massachusetts with refurbishment documents and a clean Texas title.

The car was refinished in Presidential Blue by Larry’s Paint & Body of Rockport, Texas, under previous ownership and has been fitted with replacement smoked window glass and various exterior components as detailed by the records provided in the gallery. The rear roof bow for the replacement power-operated blue convertible top has been shortened by 2″, and the rear valance has been modified to accommodate quad exhaust outlets. Turn signal indicators are present in the hood vents.

Foose 17″ five-spoke wheels are clad in chrome and mounted over power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with cross-drilled and slotted rotors at each corner. The Top Flight Automotive Grab-A-Trak suspension kit adds KYB shocks as well as an oversized front sway bar. Rack-and-pinion steering was also fitted during the refurbishment.

The bolstered front bucket seats and rear bench have been reupholstered in blue leather with ventilation grommets and Mustang insignias on the backrests. Matching upholstery extends to the two-tone door panels, and the door jambs have been smoothed and fitted with stainless-steel guards. Replacement carpeting has been added while lap belts with Mustang-branded buckles are fitted for all occupants.

Additional interior appointments include a Mustang-branded stereo, Classic Auto Air climate control, and a Billet Specialties steering wheel, the latter of which frames white Velocity Series gauges from Classic Instruments that include a 160-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and readouts for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 1,700 miles, approximately 150 of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The trunk is trimmed in matching blue leather and carpeting, and ventilation grommets can be seen along the trunk walls.

The replacement 351ci Windsor V8 is said to have been installed in 2010 and bored and stroked to displace 408ci. Noted components include:

  • Patriot Performance aluminum cylinder heads
  • Billet Specialities valve covers and air cleaner assembly
  • Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor
  • Billet Specialities Tru Trac serpentine belt system
  • Billet Specialties battery box
  • Aftermarket wiring harness
  • Single-wire alternator
  • Aluminum radiator with dual electric cooling fans

The selling dealer states that maintenance in preparation for the sale included a valve adjustment, an oil change, and the replacement of the starter, battery, distributor cap, spark plugs, and plug wires.

Power is routed to the rear wheels via a cable clutch, a replacement Tremec five-speed manual transmission, an aluminum drive shaft, and an 8″ limited-slip differential with 3.55:1 gearing. The rear floor pans and trunk floor were replaced during the refurbishment, and the Jet-Hot-coated dual exhaust system is equipped with long-tube headers and Flowmaster mufflers.
