This 1965 Ford Mustang convertible was refinished in dark green and reupholstered in black under previous ownership, and a 347ci V8 was installed following the seller’s acquisition in March 2024. Equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a polished high-rise intake manifold, aluminum cylinder heads, Scott Drake Tri-Y exhaust headers, a power-operated black soft top, gold stripes, a hood scoop, Shelby badging, halo LED headlights, 17″ 10-spoke wheels, front disc brakes, front bucket seats, a RetroSound stereo, and a cabin heater. The dash pad, instrument bezel, heater, and wiring harness were also replaced under current ownership. This modified Mustang is now offered with recent parts receipts and a New Mexico title.

The car was delivered from the factory in Ivy Green and was refinished in dark metallic green with gold over-the-top and side stripes under previous ownership. Exterior features include a power-retractable replacement black soft top, a hood scoop, GT350H lettering, 347 badging, a Shelby Cobra-logo fuel cap, Oracle Lighting halo LED headlights, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance.

The 17″ 10-spoke wheels wear Shelby Cobra-logo center caps and 225/45 front and 245/45 rear Lexani tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl. The seating and carpeting were replaced under previous ownership, and the dash pad, instrument bezel, heater, and wiring harness were replaced in March 2024. A RetroSound stereo was also fitted.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer flanked by fuel-level and water-temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 347ci V8 crate engine was built by Detroit Power Engines of Stevenson, Virginia, with a SCAT crankshaft, DSS Racing forged pistons, Eagle forged connecting rods, a hydraulic camshaft, and Comp Cams pushrods. It was installed in 2024, and additional equipment includes a chrome Ford Racing air cleaner and valve covers, a polished high-rise intake manifold, aluminum cylinder heads, Scott Drake Tri-Y exhaust headers, a Powermaster alternator, an HEI distributor, MSD plug wires, and an aluminum radiator.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

The warranty number is consistent with a 1965 Mustang that was built in Dearborn, Michigan, and equipped with a 289ci V8. Decoding the trim tag reveals the following information:

  • Body 76A – Two-door convertible with standard bucket seats
  • Color R – Ivy Green paint
  • Trim 26 – Black crinkle vinyl, standard interior
  • Date 04S – May 4, 1965 build date
  • DSO 63 – Memphis district sales office
  • Axle 6 – 2.80:1 conventional rear axle ratio

There is currently a lien on the car, and the seller’s lender will need to be paid off before the title can be transferred to the new owner.
