This 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL was purchased by the seller’s father-in-law in 1982 and later spent 30 years in storage prior to being acquired by the seller in 2020. It is powered by a 2.5-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in Dark Maroon over beige. Equipment includes a beige convertible top, a removable hardtop, 14″ steel wheels with painted hubcaps, and an Alpine cassette radio. This W113 SL is now offered at no reserve with service records, spare parts, a tool kit, an indoor car cover, and a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.

The W113 SL was designed by Friedrich Geiger, Béla Barényi, and Paul Bracq and was introduced to the public at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show. This example is finished in Dark Maroon (460) and features a body-color removable hardtop and a driver-side mirror. The beige soft top was replaced around 1982, and the seller notes evidence of previously repaired front-end damage. The power antenna does not work, and dings and paint chips are noted.

Body-color 14″ steel wheels feature hubcaps with painted centers and are mounted with 185/75 Hankook Optimo whitewall tires installed in 2021. Braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs. In 2021, the brake calipers were refurbished and the rotors, pads, and rear hoses were replaced. The brake booster and master cylinder were replaced in October 2022.

The cabin houses beige bucket seats, a floor-mounted gear shifter, lap belts, an Alpine cassette radio, and a heater. The removed Becker radio is included in the sale. The shifter was rebuilt with new bushings in 2021. Replacement heater control levers are included in the sale.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 32k miles, approximately 230 of which were added under current ownership. The clock does not work.

The 2.5-liter M129 inline-six was factory equipped with Bosch fuel injection and was rated at 170 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque when new. Work between 2021 and 2022 included rebuilding the injection pump and replacing the following:

  • Water pump
  • Thermostat
  • Coolant hoses
  • Spark plugs and wires
  • Distributor
  • Fuel tank and sending unit
  • Fuel pump
  • Fuel injectors

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The fluid for the transmission and differential was replaced in 2021. A previous rust repair is reported on the driver-side floor, while rust is noted on the exhaust, trunk floor, and underside.

A hardtop stand, service records, spare parts, shoulder seat belts, a tool kit, an indoor car cover, keys, and tools are included in the sale and can be viewed in the gallery.
