This 1965 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was refurbished in 2016 and subsequently awarded two NCRS Top Flight Awards. Refurbishment work included replacing exterior panels and placing the body on a rotisserie before it was refinished in Nassau Blue with a white soft top and a refurbished color-keyed hardtop. The car is powered by a 327ci L76 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and further equipment includes a PosiTraction differential, 15″ reproduction knock-off wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, an AM/FM radio, chrome bumpers, and retractable headlights. Acquired by the seller in 2015, this C2 convertible is offered with the owner’s manual, service records, NCRS awards, and a Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.
The car was factory-finished in Nassau Blue (FF), and fiberglass panels were reportedly replaced before the body was placed on a rotisserie and repainted during the refurbishment. The car is equipped with a white soft top along with a body-color removable hardtop, flip-up headlights, chrome bumpers, fender vents, Soft Ray tinted glass, and a retractable antenna. Photos of the refurbishment process of the hardtop are provided in the gallery.
Reproduction 15″ turbine-style wheels feature faux knock-offs and are mounted with Hankook Optimo white-stripe tires. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs.
The bucket seats upholstered in blue vinyl and joined by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include a heater, a reverse-lockout shifter, an analog clock, and an AM/FM radio.
The teak wood steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 84k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 327ci L76 V8 was equipped from the factory with a single four-barrel carburetor. The engine was rebuilt and a revised camshaft was fitted during the refurbishment.
The engine stamping is shown above, and additional drivetrain stamps are provided in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a PosiTraction differential.
Photos taken during the refurbishment are provided in the gallery.
Two NCRS Top Flight Awards are included in the sale along with the owner’s manual, a Shipping Data Report, an NCRS scoring sheet, and a body-matching hardtop.
The current Massachusetts title carries an “Odometer Discrepancy – Not Actual Mileage” brand.
