This 1964.5 Ford Mustang is an early-production convertible that was assembled at Ford’s plant in San Jose, California, and it is said to have remained with the family of its original owner for 49 years. Finished in Poppy Red over black upholstery, the car was cosmetically refurbished before it was acquired out of Arizona by the seller on BaT in July 2021, and it has a power-operated black convertible top, wheel covers, replacement seats, and a retro-look stereo. Power is supplied by a U-code 170ci inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission. This Mustang shows 55k miles and is offered with a clean Montana title in the seller’s name.
Finished at the factory in Poppy Red (3), the car was repainted during prior ownership, and it has a power-operated soft top in addition to a chrome grille bar, front vent windows, and a chrome luggage rack.
Steel 14″ wheels are mounted with full covers and Hankook white-stripe tires, and a full-size spare is stored in the trunk. The car has unassisted steering and drum brakes.
The TMI Products seats are trimmed in charcoal leather with microsuede inserts and an embossed Pony motif on their backrests. Lap belts are equipped for the front occupants, and a retro-style modern radio features an auxiliary input.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames the instruments, and the five-digit odometer shows 55k miles, approximately 600 of which were added by the seller.
Factory rated at 105 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, the U-code 170ci inline-six sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission and a rear axle with 3.25:1 gearing. Seepage is noted from the engine and differential pinion seal.
