This 1970 Fiat 124 Sport Spider was purchased by the seller in 2005. A subsequent year-long refurbishment included refinishing the car in yellow, replacing gaskets and seals, and overhauling the 1.4-liter inline-four, five-speed manual transmission, and differential as well as fitting the interior with a replacement dashboard, center console, seat foam, black vinyl upholstery, and carpeting. The car also features a replacement carburetor, H4 headlights, Campagnolo 13″ wheels, a lowered suspension with Koni dampers, and replacement front brake calipers as well as a replacement black canvas top, a MOMO steering wheel, and a Becker radio. Service in preparation for the sale is said to have included adjusting the valves, flushing the brake fluid and the coolant, and replacing the timing belt, alternator belt, spark plugs, and ignition wires. This 124 Sport Spider is offered at no reserve with a removed steering wheel, service and parts invoices, and Alabama registration in the seller’s name.
The seller notes that the body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in yellow as part of the refurbishment, at which time a replacement black canvas top was fitted along with replacement gaskets and rubber seals. Exterior details include a driver-side mirror, a chrome-finished front bumper, and chrome-finished rear bumperettes as well as retrofitted H4 headlights with relays.
Campagnolo 13″ wheels were fitted under current ownership and are mounted with 175/70 Pirelli Cinturato CN 36 tires with production date codes from 2021. Stopping power is handled by disc brakes at all four corners, and the seller states that the car is equipped with upgraded front calipers and rebuilt rear calipers. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension with a sway bar as well as worm-and-roller gear steering, and the suspension has been lowered and fitted with Koni Red dampers under current ownership.
The seats were fitted with replacement foam and black vinyl upholstery as part of the refurbishment, which also included replacing the dashboard, center console, and carpeting. Additional details include woodgrain trim, a Becker Grand Prix AM/FM radio, and crank windows.
The MOMO three-spoke steering wheel fronts Veglia Borletti instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, approximately 9k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1.4-liter inline-four was overhauled as part of the refurbishment, at which time it was fitted with a replacement carburetor, distributor, and fuse block. The seller states that the valves were adjusted, the coolant was flushed, the oil was changed, and the timing belt, alternator belt, spark plugs, and ignition wires were replaced in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the transmission and the differential were rebuilt as part of the refurbishment.
A removed two-spoke steering wheel will accompany the car along with a tool kit. Images of service and parts invoices can be viewed in the gallery below.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its Alabama registration.
