This 1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible was acquired by the seller in October 1997 and is powered by a fuel-injected air-cooled 1.6L flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. The car was repainted white and the interior was reupholstered in 2006. A replacement tan convertible soft top was fitted in 2024, and additional details include chrome 15″ steel wheels, drum brakes, a locking gas cap, fender stone guards, chrome impact bumpers, imitation Elm burl wood trim, and a JVC head unit. This 1303 Super Beetle is now offered at no reserve with service records, spare parts, a top boot, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Alpine White (L90E) and received a repaint in 2006 and a replacement tan convertible soft top and boot in 2024. Additional details include a locking gas cap, dual side-view mirrors, a Karmann body tag affixed to the right front quarter panel, fender stone guards, and chrome impact bumpers with rub strips. Exterior blemishes include a dent in the left front fender and rust inside the fuel door.

Chrome 15″ steel wheels wear matching VW-stamped hubcaps and are mounted with 165/80 Nankang CX-668 tires. The car was factory equipped with a MacPherson strut and coil spring front suspension in place of the standard Beetle’s torsion bar setup. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in white vinyl upholstery and joined by color-coordinated door panels and gray carpeting. Imitation Elm burl wood trim adorns the dashboard, and additional interior elements include a lockable glove compartment, a two-speed fresh air blower fan, an wooden shift knob, and a JVC head unit linked to speakers mounted in the front kick panels.

The four-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg crest center cap and fronts a 100-mph VDO speedometer with an inset fuel-level gauge. The seller states they have added approximately 38k miles during their ownership. The five-digit mechanical odometer currently shows 1,800 miles, and the seller states the odometer has rolled over.

The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four was factory equipped with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 48 horsepower and 73 lb-ft of torque. A rebuilt long block was installed in 2001 and the fuel pump relay was replaced in 2023.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.

The car last passed a smog test for the state of California in May 2023.
