This 1956 Jaguar XK140 MC Drophead Coupe was refurbished circa 2000 and is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in red over Biscuit leather, and equipment includes a Fawn soft top, 16″ wire wheels, Lucas fog lights, fender-mounted mirrors, wood interior trim, and adjustable seats. This XK140 was purchased by the current owner in 1987 and is now offered by the seller on the owner’s behalf with service records and a clean California title identifying the car as a 1955 model.
The car has been refinished in red and features a replacement Fawn soft top, a split windshield, front vent windows, Lucas fog lights, bright trim, dual exhaust outlets, and full-width chrome bumpers with overriders. The owner reports rear-end body damage repairs in 2019. There is a crack in the grille.
The 16″ wire wheels are mounted with 185HR16 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A full-size spare is stored under the trunk floor, and braking is handled by drums at each corner.
The adjustable seats were trimmed in Biscuit leather during the refurbishment, and interior appointments include wind-up side windows, door storage pockets, and a folding rear bulkhead. The cabin heater components have been removed and are included in the sale.
The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and an ammeter alongside gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.4-liter inline-six featured dual SU carburetors from the factory for a rating of 190 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. The side mount of the radiator has pulled away from the top tank. Compression readings can be viewed in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a BorgWarner three-speed automatic transmission. A hole on the underside of the battery tray is pictured in the gallery along with other seller-indicated flaws.
